Johanna Beisteiner

Born in 1976 in Wiener Neustadt (Austria). She received her first lessons at the age of nine. From 1989 to 1992 she was educated at the Joseph Matthias Hauer-Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt and in 1991 she was the first guitarist who was allowed to take part as a soloist in the yearly final concert of the conservatory.

At the age of sixteen Johanna Beisteiner became a student of the famous Academy of Music in Vienna, improved her technique and gained experience as a chamber musician.

In 1998 she met the versatile Hungarian composer Robert Gulya and inspired him to his first guitar piece: "Fairy Dance" (first performed on January 8th 2000 at Bernardisaal / Wr. Neustadt).
In 1999 she was introduced as a soloist on Austrian radio and finished her studies successfully in the same year. Since then she gave concerts in Austria and other European countries (inter alia in Germany, Hungary and Italy). In March of 2001 Johanna Beisteiner played a recital at the Teatro della Concordia in Montecastello di Vibio (Italy), "the most little theatre in the world", on the occasion of the opening of the theatre´s restored historical stage curtain (1850) . In 2001 her first CD was published with pieces by Piazzolla, Gulya, Tárrega and Albéniz.

The repertoire of the guitarist contains all styles from the Renaissance to the present (such as Albéniz, Bach, Diabelli, Dowland, Giuliani, Gulya, Händel, Paganini, Piazzolla, Rodrigo, Sor, Tárrega, Villa-Lobos and Vivaldi).

Johanna Beisteiner plays on a classical Spanish concert guitar made by Paulino Bernabé (Madrid).
